Registration is now open for the 2023 Civil Engineering Professional Development Seminar (CEPDS) on November 16th at Purdue University (Stewart Center). 

CEPDS traditionally attracts over 600 professionals and students to learn about advancements in the civil engineering industry.  Technical tracks include Bridge, Transportation (2 tracks), Environmental, Geotechnical, Water Resources, Vertical Structures, and more. Attendees are also offered the opportunity to participate in an Executive Management and Leadership course to further develop and strengthen the civil engineering profession.

Management Track 

"Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Business," Kristin Kautz, JAM Idea Agency 

Kristin Kautz will discuss the effects of AI in business, marketing, and design applications. ASCE Younger Members has assembled an extraordinary panel of civil engineers who are eager to network with students and younger members. The panelists bring diverse levels of experience and cover a broad range of civil engineering disciplines. Panel topics include but are not limited to: career tips, employment opportunities, and advice on transitioning into the workforce. This event is intended to be interactive and there will be giveaways for participation!

Opening Session 

"Physical Artificial Intelligence at Purdue University & The Role of the Civil Engineer" 

Professor Darcy Bullock of Purdue University will give an introduction to the research and development of AI in the transportation field, specifically its effect on Indiana. 

Dr. Bullock is a Lyles Family Professor of Civil Engineering and Director of the Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP) with courtesy appointments in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. 

Lunch Session 

 "3 Contracts, 2 States and 1 Bridge" 

A lot of progress is being made as Indiana and Kentucky work to complete the critical I-69 connection with the I-69 Ohio River Crossing. Construction is well underway in Henderson and work will begin in Evansville early next year. The states will meet in the middle with the new river crossing.

Danny Corbin is a senior project manager at the Indiana Department of Transportation where he is a part of the Major Projects Delivery Team. He has more than two decades of transportation experience. Danny serves as project manager for multiple major projects for INDOT, including the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.

Mindy Peterson is public involvement director at Parsons where she leads communications for several major projects. She has nearly 30 years of combined communications and transportation experience and has served as spokesperson for I-69 ORX for more than 6 years.
